Nigerian music stars Davido, Rema and Omah Lay have been announced among the first wave of artistes for the 2027 edition of Afro Nation Portugal, with Davido and Rema set to headline the festival alongside Congolese star Fally Ipupa.
The seventh edition of Afro Nation Portugal is scheduled for June 9 to 11, 2027, at Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal. The festival organisers have also confirmed a wider lineup spanning Afrobeats, amapiano, dancehall and other African music genres.
Davido and Rema Lead the Headline Bill
Davido and Rema will return to the festival as headline performers, continuing the strong presence of Nigerian Afrobeats at Afro Nation Portugal.
They will share the top billing with Fally Ipupa, while French-Congolese singer GIMS has been announced as a special guest.
The main Lit Stage will also feature Omah Lay, Victony, Jamaican artistes Shenseea and Valiant, Tanzanian singer Rayvanny, as well as Odeal, Bamby and Miimii KDS.
The festival’s organisers have described Davido, Rema and Fally Ipupa as major figures in African music, with all three returning to a festival where they have previously performed.
Strong Nigerian Presence
The announcement further extends Nigeria’s long-running representation at Afro Nation Portugal.
Davido was among the artistes associated with the festival from its early editions and has appeared at several previous editions. Rema also returns after previously headlining the Portugal festival in 2024.
Omah Lay and Victony will add further Nigerian representation to the 2027 main-stage lineup.
Over the years, Afro Nation Portugal has featured a wide range of Nigerian artistes, including Burna Boy, Wizkid, Asake, Tems, Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML, Olamide, Adekunle Gold and others.
The continued inclusion of Nigerian performers reflects the prominent role Afrobeats has played in the festival since its launch in Portugal in 2019.
Amapiano and African Music Across Multiple Stages
The 2027 programme will extend beyond Afrobeats.
The Piano People Stage will feature South African amapiano acts led by Kabza De Small and TxC, with Dlala Thukzin announced as a special guest.
Other performers announced for the stage include 031Choppa, 2woBunnies, Benzo, Thatohatsi, Uncool MC, W4DE, Xduppy B2B Al Xapo, Young Stunna and Zee Nxumalo.
The lineup also includes an Afrotronic component, reflecting the festival’s broader focus on African electronic and dance music.
Festival Dates and Programme
Afro Nation Portugal 2027 will take place from June 9 to 11 at Praia da Rocha in Portimão.
The 2027 edition is scheduled earlier in the summer than several recent Portugal editions, which have generally taken place in July.
The festival will also have events surrounding the main three-day programme, including an opening party on June 8 and a closing party on June 12.
The festival’s official ticketing information confirms June 9-11 as the dates for three-day general admission to the main festival site.
Why the 2027 Lineup Matters
Afro Nation Portugal has become an important international platform for African music, bringing major African performers together with audiences in Europe and from other parts of the world.
For Nigerian music, the 2027 lineup provides another international stage for some of the country’s leading Afrobeats performers.
Davido and Rema’s headline positions place two Nigerian artistes at the centre of the festival’s main programme, while Omah Lay and Victony’s inclusion adds further Nigerian representation.
The wider lineup also illustrates the increasing overlap between Afrobeats, amapiano, dancehall and other contemporary African sounds within major international music festivals.

The announcement represents the first wave of performers rather than the complete 2027 programme.
Organisers are expected to announce additional artistes and programme details ahead of the festival.
With the first announcement already covering major names from Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jamaica, Tanzania and South Africa, further additions will determine the final shape of the 2027 festival lineup.
