The Federal Government has commenced the distribution of free Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders to households in Bayelsa State as part of its nationwide campaign to accelerate the adoption of clean cooking energy and reduce dependence on firewood, charcoal, and other traditional cooking fuels.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader clean energy transition strategy aimed at improving public health, protecting the environment, and easing the financial burden on vulnerable households by expanding access to safer and more sustainable cooking solutions.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony in Bayelsa, government officials said the programme aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to increasing access to clean energy while supporting the country’s climate action goals.
