Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has directed security personnel operating in the state to intensify efforts against criminal elements, declaring that no individual involved in criminal activities should be spared, including those engaged in illegal mining.
The governor gave the directive during a visit to troops stationed in Bauchi, where he commended the Nigerian military and other security agencies for their commitment to maintaining peace and protecting lives and property across the state.
Mohammed emphasized that security remains one of the top priorities of his administration, noting that the safety of residents is essential for economic growth, investment, and social development.
Governor Demands Tougher Action Against Criminals
Addressing the troops, the governor urged them to strengthen intelligence gathering and collaborate closely with other security agencies to identify and dismantle criminal networks operating within and around Bauchi State.
He stressed that criminals should not be allowed any safe haven, regardless of their activities or locations.
According to the governor, illegal mining has increasingly become a security concern, with criminal groups allegedly exploiting mining sites to finance unlawful activities and threaten local communities.
He therefore instructed security operatives to deal decisively with those involved in illegal mining and other forms of criminality.
“We must not allow criminal elements to destabilize our communities. Intelligence gathering must be strengthened, and every lawful effort should be made to ensure criminals face justice,” the governor said.

Governor Mohammed noted that sustainable development cannot be achieved without adequate security.
He explained that investors are more willing to establish businesses in areas where peace and stability are guaranteed, adding that the state government remains committed to providing logistical support to security agencies.
He praised the military’s professionalism and sacrifices in confronting security challenges, saying the people of Bauchi appreciate their dedication.
The governor assured the troops that his administration would continue working closely with federal security institutions to enhance operational effectiveness.
Call for Better Intelligence
