HBM Nigeria Plc has reassured customers, shareholders, distributors, investors, and business partners that its recent corporate rebranding will not alter the quality of its products, disrupt operations, or diminish shareholder value, as the company embarks on a new phase under its new corporate identity.
The reassurance follows the company’s transition from Lafarge Africa Plc to HBM Nigeria Plc, a move that reflects changes in its shareholder structure and long-term strategic direction. Company executives stressed that while the corporate name has changed, the company’s commitment to manufacturing high-quality cement, concrete, aggregates, and innovative building solutions remains unchanged.
Speaking during the unveiling of the new corporate identity in Lagos, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HBM Nigeria Plc, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, described the rebranding as the beginning of a new era focused on operational excellence, innovation, sustainability, and long-term value creation.
According to him, the transition is designed to strengthen the company’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading building solutions providers while maintaining the trust built over decades.
He emphasized that customers should continue to expect the same premium-quality products that have made the company a trusted partner in Nigeria’s construction industry.
The company also assured stakeholders that all existing operations across its nationwide plants will continue without interruption. Employees, distributors, contractors, suppliers, and host communities are expected to experience a seamless transition as the rebranding is implemented gradually across the company’s operations.
HBM Nigeria explained that the name change is strictly a corporate identity transformation and not a change in its manufacturing standards or business philosophy.
The management noted that ongoing investments in production capacity, sustainability initiatives, and infrastructure support projects will continue as planned, reinforcing the company’s commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth and industrial development.
Addressing shareholder concerns, Chairman of HBM Nigeria Plc, Gbenga Oyebode, expressed appreciation to investors for their continued confidence in the company.
He said the rebranding positions the company for long-term success while preserving the values that have guided its operations for decades.
According to Oyebode, the Board remains committed to creating sustainable value for shareholders and strengthening stakeholder confidence through sound corporate governance and responsible business practices.
Industry observers say the rebranding follows the acquisition and new ownership structure involving Huaxin Cement, marking one of the biggest corporate identity changes in Nigeria’s cement industry in recent years.
Despite the ownership transition, company officials insist that customers will continue receiving the same products and services without any compromise in quality or availability.
The phased rollout of the HBM Nigeria brand will include updated corporate branding, packaging, signage, digital platforms, and customer communications while ensuring uninterrupted business operations nationwide.
Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, who attended the unveiling ceremony, commended the company for its longstanding contributions to infrastructure development across the country.
Umahi praised the quality of the company’s products, describing them as reliable and instrumental in supporting several major infrastructure projects executed by the Federal Government.
He acknowledged the company’s reputation for integrity and quality, expressing confidence that the new corporate identity would further strengthen its contribution to national development.
The rebranding comes at a time when Nigeria’s construction sector continues to experience rising demand for durable building materials driven by investments in roads, housing, bridges, and other critical infrastructure.
Analysts believe maintaining customer confidence during such transitions is essential, particularly in a competitive cement market where brand reputation plays a significant role in purchasing decisions.
HBM Nigeria says its focus remains on delivering innovative building solutions that support housing development, industrialisation, and sustainable infrastructure while maintaining the high standards associated with its legacy brand.
The company reiterated that its employees, customers, suppliers, investors, and host communities remain central to its long-term growth strategy and assured all stakeholders that business continuity remains a top priority throughout the transition.
The transition to HBM Nigeria Plc officially marks the end of the Lafarge Africa brand in Nigeria while opening a new chapter under the new ownership structure. However, company executives insist that what has changed is only the corporate name—not the products, values, quality standards, or commitment to customers and shareholders.
