The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council has assured Nigerians that its presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, would provide what it described as a physically present and responsive presidency if elected in the 2027 presidential election.
The council made the statement on Monday, September 28, 2026, in Abuja while receiving the leadership of the Atiku Unity Movement (AUM), led by Francis Eburuwe.
Kola Ologbondiyan, Director of Media and Publicity of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, said the party’s candidate would remain available to respond to national challenges requiring presidential attention.
ADC Addresses Concern Over Presidential Accessibility
Ologbondiyan said Nigeria needed a president who understood the challenges confronting citizens and would be physically available to respond to the demands of governance.
He argued that the country should not face uncertainty over who was effectively directing government affairs during critical moments.
“The country needs a President who understands the challenges confronting Nigerians and is physically available to respond to the demands of governance,” Ologbondiyan said, according to reports of his remarks.
“Nigeria cannot afford a situation in which there is uncertainty over who is effectively directing the affairs of government at critical moments,” he added.
The comments form part of the ADC’s campaign messaging ahead of the 2027 general elections and present Atiku as a candidate whose proposed presidency would emphasise accessibility and responsiveness.
Atiku’s Economic Record and Proposals
The ADC campaign council also pointed to Atiku’s previous policy positions as evidence of his understanding of Nigeria’s economic challenges.
Ologbondiyan referred to Atiku’s position during the 2023 presidential campaign on the removal of petrol subsidies. According to the council, Atiku had advocated a phased approach intended to limit the immediate pressure on Nigerians.
The campaign council also highlighted recent economic proposals associated with Atiku, particularly measures aimed at reducing the burden of energy and living costs.
One proposal cited by the council involves a production-based intervention for petroleum products refined in Nigeria. The proposal, as described by the campaign council, would include a fixed spending limit, approval by the National Assembly and independent audits.

He expressed confidence that an administration led by Atiku would address economic and social challenges and improve citizens’ welfare.
The movement also urged its members to maintain grassroots mobilisation as political parties and candidates prepare for the election.
