The troops subsequently evacuated the bodies, while security personnel began operations to locate the attackers.

Vanguard reported on September 24 that two local miners were killed at Gangare community in Barkin Ladi following another attack.
The report said the miners were carrying out their activities when they were killed. Rwang Tengwong, spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulders Association, called for an investigation and urged security agencies to pursue those responsible.
The sequence of incidents has increased concerns about the safety of people working at mining sites and residents of rural communities in Barkin Ladi.
Two Miners Previously Injured in Attack
Earlier, on September 17, two illegal miners sustained machete injuries when suspected armed attackers raided a mining site in Jong village, also in Barkin Ladi.
Zagazola Makama reported that troops from Sector 4 of Operation Enduring Peace responded to a distress call and forced the attackers to flee.
The two injured miners, identified as Dung Gyang and Luka Pam, were reportedly taken to hospital for treatment. The attackers were also reported to have stolen a pumping machine, two mobile phones and about 50 yards of electric wire.
The incident demonstrates that attacks on mining locations have involved both violence against workers and the theft of equipment.
